Food Shift develops practical solutions to reduce food waste, nourish communities, and provide jobs. Their model focuses on rescuing surplus food that would otherwise waste away in landfills and utilize it to fuel their social enterprise kitchen. They address food insecurity and joblessness in the community through their catering program and job training program, which is designed for those facing high barriers to employment including homelessness, unemployment, disability, domestic violence, addiction and incarceration. Apprentices earn a livable wage while learning how to work in a professional kitchen, allowing for growing room before stepping into the next role of their careers.

For 100 years, we’ve been giving children in the U.S. and around the world a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. When crisis strikes, we are always among the first to respond and the last to leave. We do whatever it takes to save children, transforming their lives and the future we share.

MCFB’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of Merced & Mariposa County residents affected by hunger; through the acquisition, storage, and distribution of nutritious food.

Founded in 1972, Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz County was the first food bank in California and is the second oldest in the nation. We source over 8 million pounds of food each year from farms, grocery stores, food manufacturers, distributors, and individuals, and distribute it to 100 food pantries, schools, soup kitchens, group homes, youth centers, and more, plus another 100 Second Harvest program sites. 1 in 4 children and 1 in 5 adults face the reality of hunger in Santa Cruz County. We reach 55,000 people each month—that’s children, seniors, veterans, homeless, working poor, and more who need some help from their neighbors to make it through a tough time.

At Loaves & Fishes, we’re working to remove the barriers to hunger relief in the Bay Area. Despite the Bay Area’s booming economy, 1 in 4 people do not know where their next meal is coming from. In Silicon Valley, 1 in 3 suffer from food insecurity. Each day, more and more people are becoming hungry in our Bay Area community. It’s why, for over 40 years, we have provided hot and nutritious prepared meals to hungry families, children, seniors, veterans, students, and disabled individuals throughout Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. With every meal we serve, our goal is to fill someone up with hope.
